About Us
Thanks for checking out my company, Free To Be Lifestyle. I am the owner Wendy! I hope that you find our products made with quality and our mission something you can resonate with. My goal is to provide annual support for people with mental health struggles.
I come from a long line of family with mental health struggles. I have learned over time that trying to cope with your internal struggles is really hard to do on your own. I have lost family members to addiction, friends to suicide.
Being a Gen X kid growing up as a latch key kid, not much guidance and being an only child, well lets just say it’s not for the faint of heart. I have had my own share of struggles. I had sexual trauma in my early years and tried to shove those sad and angry feelings down for so many years.
About 3 years ago, I started my own healing journey. After raising 2 amazing, well rounded, smart, compassionate kids (the ONE thing I can say I did, with pride) I became the dreaded empty nester, and had time on my hands. I was extremely sad and felt lonely, I felt like I lost my purpose. I started to notice that even in a room full of people I felt alone. For many years my marriage struggled off and on. I worried all the time and focused on all of the negative feelings I was having but I wasn’t doing anything about them. I was frozen.
During this time I had another big push, you see my husband is a firefighter and was diagnosed with PTSD. So those of you that think first responders just play basketball, shop and high five each other, think again. In this process of him getting help, working on healing and trying to navigate this new diagnoses we were blessed recipients of “The 100 Club of Arizona.” See, there was trial happening that he got to be a part of. We could have never done the trial had we not had their financial support. We had to pay a small portion to have some skin in the game but the 100 Club of Arizona paid the remainder... guys, this treatment saved his life, LITERALLY. If you are curious on this treatment email me.
I’ll end with this… navigating all of this has come full circle, it led me to a new job with a local Fire Department as their wellness coordinator. I don’t have a degree or a certification, just heart. I am working a lot - working at the Fire Department, at Wendy Nolte Photography and now Free To Be, but I just want a better life for my family and to give back. As the economy is putting a strain on all of us just know that any purchase you make, a portion will be going to help people with their mental health struggles. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, I appreciate you for being here.
Hugs,
Wendy
